King Abdullah II Fund for Development set to launch fourth cycle of 'Media and Information Literacy' project

As part of national efforts to empower Jordanian youth, enhance their digital citizenship values, and combat rumors, misinformation, and hate speech, especially on social media platforms, the King Abdullah II Fund for Development is launching the fourth cycle of the "Media and Information Literacy" project within the framework of the Communication and Community Awareness Program.
The project aims to build quality capacities among young people in dealing with modern media, accessing more reliable informational and media content, verifying information and multi-source media messages before sharing them, and evaluating their content that is particularly published on digital communication platforms. Furthermore, it seeks to produce media content that serves the values of tolerance and diversity, based on national identity and values.
The project specifically targets Jordanian youth in the age group of 18 to 30 years old. Participants will undergo a three-day training program held in all governorates of the Kingdom. The program will cover topics such as the impact of media and social media, optimal use of digital content, building balanced approaches in dealing with information sources, legal culture, and digital security.
The training program for the project's current cycle has been developed to allow participants to present projects upon completion of the training, focusing on how to transfer the knowledge they have acquired to their peers, through community initiatives, youth groups, or any other applicable proposal.
It is worth noting that the Media and Information Literacy project was launched in 2019. So far, three cycles have been conducted, comprising 83 training sessions held in all governorates. These training sessions have benefited a total of 2,262 young men and women. Additionally, a training manual for the project has been developed and deposited at the National Library.
