PSI and KAFD Launch "Partisans for Development" Project

AMMAN –– The Institute of Politics and Society, with the support of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), has launched the "Partisans for Development " project to enhance the capabilities of young party members in governorate and municipal councils to implement their service programs.
The project aims to promote the participation of young party members and activate their presence in municipal and local administration councils, as well as strengthen the capacities of party members in governorate and municipal councils to achieve local development.
The project staff collaborates with 45 members of party-affiliated governorate and municipal councils, empowering them to implement development plans for their provinces and municipalities during the electoral cycle.
Additionally, the project aims to raise community awareness about the importance of the role played by party members, especially youth, in local administration councils to achieve development and reinforce the foundations of good governance and participation in local decision-making. It also seeks to enhance the role of parties by developing future platforms for local administration, candidacy, and election toward modern, integrated service-oriented cities.
Furthermore, the project works to align party objectives in development programs with issues such as the environment and local economy, emphasizing the significance of action plans that adapt to and address societal needs related to climate change, the rights of marginalized groups such as women, children, and persons with disabilities, as well as women's participation in political and developmental decision-making.
It is worth mentioning that this project represents the third phase in a series of projects implemented by the institute with the support of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, targeting youth in local administrations. The previous two phases of this series were implemented before the local elections, focusing on activities during candidacy and post-election after the official results were announced mid-last year.
