King Abdullah II Fund for Development Launches Fifth Cycle of Parliament Fellowship Project

Continuing its role in integrating youth into political life through practical programs, and in line with His Majesty the King’s vision for political empowerment, the King Abdullah II Fund for Development has launched the fifth cycle of the Parliament Fellowship Project.
This project focuses on engaging Jordanian youth as research assistants to Lower House members with the aim of enabling them to understand the MPs’ legislative and oversight roles.
The project aims to prepare young leaders capable of making a change by increasing their awareness of various national issues and challenges, expanding the base of youth participation, and providing them with practical training opportunities in legislative and oversight institutions.
The selected young men and women, following personal interviews, will take on the task of researching and providing supporting information regarding draft laws or issues to be discussed during the House debates in its upcoming regular session. They will receive theoretical training on topics such as political and parliamentary life in Jordan, political and legal research, human rights, drafting policy papers, political media and communication skills, partisan action and parliamentary work.
The current cycle of the project targets 50 young men and women from all governorates of the Kingdom, aged between 20 – 30 years. The application for participation in the project is open through https://join.kafd.jo until May 30th, subject to set terms and criteria.
It is noteworthy that the Parliament Fellowship Project with the House of representatives, launched in 2019 and updated in its second cycle (Parliamentary Fellowship), has seen 364 young men and women participate in theoretical training in the previous cycles, while 342 young men and women have engaged in practical training within the House. A training manual for the project has also been developed and deposited with the National Library.
