Ninth cycle of ‘Tariqi’ Project Launched to Enhance Job Market Competitiveness

The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has launched the ninth cycle of the Tariqi project, which aims to provide practical and technical training opportunities to increase the competitiveness of Jordanian youth seeking to enter the job market through programs designed to facilitate the acquisition of life, professional, and technical skills, coupled with field training leading to employment in the host companies.
In the customer service sector, the Taster Day activities for the project began at the Business Development Center (BDC) for the first group of participants. The event, attended by Director of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development Mazen Tabbalat, and CEO of the Business Development Center (BDC) Nayef Steitieh, covered the stages of project implementation.
Tabbalat emphasized the project's importance in creating employment opportunities for Jordanian youth by providing them with practical experience and developing their skills and abilities. This positively and effectively contributes to national efforts to slash unemployment in partnership with the private sector, he said.
Steitieh, for his part, highlighted the crucial role of youth in economic development, stating that the BDC seeks to empower young people through various programs that contribute to building their capabilities and polishing their skills. He expressed pride in the partnership with KAFD in advancing these efforts across all governorates of the Kingdom.
The Tariqi project is one of BDC's signature projects, offering youth a clear roadmap to meet job market requirements and achieve success in various fields, he added, emphasizing the importance of investing in the energy and creativity of youth to build a prosperous economy and a bright future for the beloved nation.
The project, executed in strategic partnership with the British King’s Trust International and the implementing partner, the Business Development Center, targets sectors such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), insurance, retail, banking, healthcare, hospitality, logistics, customer service, embedded systems using Micro Python, green economy and renewable energy, and financial technology.

The project progresses through four phases, starting with the development of life skills, followed by technical skills, then on-the-job training within host companies, culminating in the fourth phase of providing employment opportunities for participants in the targeted sectors.
Since its inception in 2015, Tariqi has enhanced the employability of 945 graduates and provided 503 job opportunities.
