since the beginning of the pandemic, the youth arm of King Abdullah II Fund for Development “All Jordan Youth Commission” contributed to supporting national efforts in curbing the spread of the virus, especially in raising the awareness of citizens to maintain public safety, in addition to providing humanitarian services.
In order to apply this important role, AJYC was present in the field through its qualified volunteers to support health, medical, and security staff in coordination with administrative rulers in governorates and competent entities to apply the basics of public safety.
AJYC relied on the participatory approach and networking in providing volunteer services in the shadow of the crisis delivering assistance packages and medications to target households, taking into consideration public safety standards and precautionary measures. In addition, AJYC assisted in the queuing process at shops and placing social distancing signage to ensure the social distancing of shoppers. It helped in sanitizing mosques and churches, counseling high school students during the summer semester of 2020 and assisting at voting centers during the parliamentary elections to ensure adherence to public safety and preventive measures. The role of volunteers also became apparent in supporting medical staff at vaccination centers to guide citizens and organize the vaccination process.
All Jordan Youth Commission praises the speech of the Ministry of Interior regarding the importance of the role played by civil society institutions and youth institutions to curb the spread of the virus. AJYC emphasizes its continuity and readiness to participate in the execution of any national plans or programs to control the spread of the pandemic. It is keen to continue activating the role of youth aiming to translate His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision of empowering youth and enable their participation in public life.
