KAFD Extends Application Deadline for Undergraduates Research & Innovation Support Project

The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has announced an extension of the application deadline for the Undergraduates Research & Innovation Support Project (RISP), which aims to empower university students and encourage them to develop practical, science-based solutions that contribute to building a productive and engaged community in the scientific and educational fields.

KAFD stated that the application period has been extended until Saturday, 3 January, through the online platform: https://join.kafd.jo. The decision to extend the deadline comes to provide a greater number of university students with the opportunity to submit their projects and research proposals, and to allow additional time to complete application requirements.
The project provides technical and financial support to university students during the implementation of their graduation projects, in partnership with the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB). This support enables students to further develop their ideas and transform them into viable, implementable projects.

KAFD emphasized that submitted applications must be based on distinctive, applicable, and sustainable ideas, or projects that may lead to patent registration, or address challenges facing local communities, thereby strengthening the role of youth in generating practical, science-based solutions.
Projects are selected under two main tracks: open research topics defined by students in coordination with their academic supervisors, and projects proposed by JODDB. Winning projects receive financial support of up to JOD 5,000, in addition to technical guidance and advisory support to help achieve their objectives.
The project comes as a continuation of the KAFD’s efforts to support youth, develop their research and creative skills, and enhance their role in working out innovative solutions that respond to the needs of society.
It is worth noting that the Undergraduates Research & Innovation Support Project was launched in 2004 with the aim of fostering a spirit of competition among students and motivating them to develop their scientific and practical skills. Since its inception, the project has supported 391 project ideas and contributed to the registration of three patents.
